Farming facility with 600 tonnes of salmon production, slaughter plant and sludge treatment units

The system is a fish farming facility able to handle 600 tonnes of salmon production and with integrated slaughter plant and sludge treatment units.

Gråkjær builds its recirculating aquaculture system according to the RAS 2020 concept. This consists of four ring tanks of various sizes with the same centre and one combined water treatment plant.

The two outer rings are fish tanks, while the rest is a part of the water treatment plant. Sludge is sent for final processing in a sludge treatment unit.

Newly hatched fish of 100 g are placed in the quarantine area before being moved into the fish tank. Here, they grow to 4.5 kg, after which they are sent for final handling in the slaughter plant.

The building is furnished with a welfare room with separate hygiene and infectious zones for the individual units.

This fish farming facility has been built in Lostallo in south-eastern Switzerland at an altitude of 400 m.
